Jana Gubková Černá

Violinist

Master of Arts Jana Gubková Černá, ArtD. she is the leader of the 2nd violin in the Slovak Philharmonic.

During her studies, she participated in several violin competitions. In 1998, she became a member of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, where she had the unique opportunity to work under the leadership of world-famous conductors. In 2000, she became the laureate of the National Violin Competition for the Karol Dobiáš Award.

As a soloist, she performed repeatedly with all important Slovak orchestras - such as the Slovak Philharmonic, the State Chamber Orchestra of Žilina, the State Philharmonic of Košice and the Capella Istropolitana. As a chamber player and as a solo violinist, she performed in the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Turkey, Luxembourg, the USA and Cyprus.

Jana Gubková Černá is a graduate of the Bratislava Conservatory, the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava (doc. Jablokov) and the University of Music in Vienna (prof. Kuchl). She completed her studies with a number of master classes led by top performers.

In 2009, she successfully completed her postgraduate studies at the University of Performing Arts (ArtD).

Currently, her activities are mainly focused on solo and chamber performances, as well as playing the baroque violin. Since 2005, she has been a member of the early music ensemble Musica Aeterna.

She is the mother of three daughters.
